The Mathew Group was
founded by Michael D. Mathew (a.k.a. Sensei) in 2006.
Michael has been heavily involved in music and computers
for over twenty years. Since birth he has been drumming
on everything and taking things apart and putting them
together. Michael comes from a very creative family in
visual and musical arts, so creativity comes naturally.

Michael formally started in band
as a percussionist at Sidney Lanier Elementary in
Dallas, Texas in 1987, but he was drumming on
everything in sight since birth. Since the formal
start music has been one of the main focal points of
his life. After earning a degree in Music Education
from Texas A&M-Commerce, he has gone on to work
with many fine bands including North Mesquite High
School, Berkner High School, Fossil Ridge High
School, DeSoto High School, Trinity High School, and
Crandall High School. He is an in-demand clinician
throughout the state of Texas, and enjoys teaching
private lessons when possible. Michael has been a
part of groups playing showcase concerts at the
international level and has had students achieving
at the highest levels in the Texas All-State Band.
He has a metric ton of students who have chosen
music as a career in both performing and education.
Michael uses Logic Studio, Sibelius 5 and Virtual
Drumline 2.5 for percussion writing. Michael is an
Educational Artist for both Pearl Drums and
Innovative Percussion.
Michael got his first hand-me-down TRS-80 computer in
1988. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time programming
BASIC on his cassette tapes. In High School he began
learning PASCAL and C++. Michael has always kept up with
the latest computing trends. He has taken a keen interest
in the last few years in designing websites for companies
and organizations. Most free time is spent trying to
demystify the various languages (where is that babel
fish?). Michael thoroughly enjoys his MacBook Pro and
RapidWeaver among other tools.
